Aontas Adult Learner Festival Week takes place from Monday 20th to Friday 24th February 2012.
To celebrate Cavan Adult Learning Centre will host a presentation of the drama ‘Triangle’ by Philip Doherty in the event space in Johnson Library, Cavan on Friday 24th February at 1.00pm. This play was commissioned by Cavan Adult Learning Centre for Social Inclusion Week.

Co. Cavan VEC Wins Best Adult Education IT Training Centre 2011 28 Apr 2011
Co. Cavan VEC Wins Best Adult Education IT Training Centre 2011 Award presented by President Mary McAleese at the Annual National IT Training Conference
Co. Cavan VEC has won the award for Best Adult IT Training Centre at the 14thNational IT Training Conference hosted by ICS Skills. The award honours Cavan VEC for their outstanding delivery of the European Computer Driving Licence programme (ECDL) and was presented by President of Ireland Mary McAleese at the conference on Friday 25thMarch, in the Convention Centre Dublin.
The award recognised the hard work and dedication of Co Cavan VECin providing ECDL training and its contribution to improving computer literacy in Ireland.
Noelette Dolan, ECDL Co-ordinator,Co. Cavan VEC was at the conference to receive the award from the President.
With over 1000 ECDL Training centres throughout Ireland President McAleese said “She was delighted to present this prestigious award to Co Cavan VEC, as she had a particular affinity with the county.”
President Mary McAleese also spoke about acquiring IT skills and how an ECDL certificate has the ability to open up a landscape of opportunities to individuals.
Praising the work of ICS Skills, President McAleese said that “Nowadays, with more and more information available online and additional transactions needing to be completed online there is a risk that we could become segregated into two groups: one group who are information ‘haves’ and the other who are information ‘have-nots’ with the latter becoming very isolated. That is why the role of organisations like Cavan VEC has such an important part to play in this area, because they bridge that gap.”
The conference was attended by more than 300 people and also celebrated the milestone of 500,000 ECDL students in Ireland.

The session will give students all the information they need to on funding available to attend higher education. There will be representatives on the day from Social Welfare, (MABS) Money Advice & Budgeting Service, and the Local Credit Union. The event is free and open to all. Local Youth Club Grant Scheme 2010 10 Aug 2010

County Cavan VEC Adult Education Services win Annual ICS Skills Centre Best Practice Award 2010 01 Jun 2010
At the ICS Skills National Training conference which was held in the Crowne Plaza in Dublin on 23rd April, County Cavan VEC Adult Education Services were awarded an annual ICS Skills Centre Best Practice Award 2010. This award recognises centres that carry out best practices in their day-to-day business, administrative processes, client/customer service, candidate retention/evolution through programmes, budget optimisation, quality, health and safety etc.
Co. Cavan VEC Adult Education Services attend recent Quinn Symposium. 13 May 2010
It took place on the 13th May 2010 in the Cavan Crystal hotel and was aimed at the Quinn Employees. It was a coming together of all the local agencies in the County to provide information & assistance to the employees on what other options are available to them to help them in the time of uncertanity with the Quinn Group.
Grants Awarded to Local Youth Clubs 05 May 2010
On Friday, 26th March 2010, Co. Cavan VEC distributed more than €17,000 in funding to 60 youth clubs in the county.
