Cootehill Youthreach Awards Ceremony 2012

Cootehill Youthreach hosted their 2012 Awards Ceremony in the Presbyterian Hall in Cootehill on Friday the 30th November 2012. The ceremony was a culmination of the hard work that the learners had completed over the last two years.  Eight learners received their FETAC Level 4 National Certificate; the highest full certificate that Cootehill Youthreach offers and thirteen learners received their FETAC Component Certificate at Levels 3 and 4.

A group of learners took on the challenge of the Gaisce Award for the first time this year.  The President's Award is Ireland's National Challenge Award for young people, the country's most prestigious and respected individual Award programme. It is a challenge from the President of Ireland to the young people of Ireland.  Gaisce works on the basis of a personal challenge set by the young person. The learners set their own challenges and agreed it with the centres President's Award Leader- Eugenea Smith.  Part of the award involved the learners going on a 25km trek across the hills of Monaghan and an overnight stay.  We hope the next step will be the Silver Award next year!   Ms. Mary Yore from Gaisce awarded seven learners with their Bronze Award.

Cootehill Youthreach won “Best Rap” award - October 2012

In July 2012, twelve learners took part in a music workshop delivered by ‘Craftzone’.  During this 2 day workshop the learners composed a song entitled “What We Can Be”.  They recorded the song as well as a video and during the Craft Zone Awards in October 2012 Cootehill Youthreach won “Best Rap” for their song.  Leroy Lynch received the award on behalf of the group.
